May Maggio grew up in a modest household in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, where her parents instilled in her a strong work ethic and a value for education. Her father, an accountant, taught her the importance of financial prudence, while her mother, a librarian, fostered a love for organization and clear communication. She pursued her B.A. in Marketing at a state university, where she discovered a passion for understanding consumer behavior and crafting compelling narratives. Upon graduation, she joined a mid-sized marketing agency in Chicago, gaining broad experience in campaign management and content strategy. Two years ago, seeking a more direct impact and a faster-paced environment, she transitioned to the B2B SaaS world, joining her current early-stage startup. This move to Austin was driven by the burgeoning tech scene and a desire for a more vibrant, outdoor-oriented lifestyle. She’s been in her Product Marketing Manager role for two years, deeply invested in the company’s growth trajectory. Her current work revolves around translating product features into tangible value for a niche B2B audience, a process she meticulously documents and refines using Obsidian. She recently decided to streamline her X Article creation process by adopting a new workflow that leverages Markdown and the X Article Markdown Paste extension, significantly cutting down the time spent on formatting and embedding elements for weekly posts. This decision was driven by a need for speed and consistency in her content output, directly supporting the company's goal of increasing its online presence and establishing thought leadership. She views her career not just as a job, but as a continuous learning opportunity, constantly seeking to optimize her workflows and deepen her understanding of the SaaS landscape. Her financial habits are balanced; she lives comfortably within her means, saving a significant portion of her income for future financial security, but also allows for experiences and occasional splurges on items that enhance her productivity or well-being.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Her day typically starts at 7 AM with a quick walk with Pixel, followed by coffee and reviewing her Obsidian vault for the day's priorities. By 8:30 AM, she's logged in, diving into drafting launch materials or analyzing user feedback. Mid-morning often involves a sync with the CEO or lead engineer to discuss product updates. Lunch is usually a quick affair, often a prepped meal eaten at her desk while catching up on industry news. Afternoons are dedicated to content creation—writing X Articles, refining website copy, or prepping social media posts—and collaborating with the sales team. She aims to wrap up by 6 PM, though urgent issues can extend her day. Evenings are for winding down, perhaps a virtual yoga class or catching up on a podcast.

Lifestyle

May lives in a rented two-bedroom apartment in South Austin, sharing it with a rescue dog named Pixel. Her income allows for comfortable living, but she's mindful of saving for future investments. Weekends often involve hiking the Greenbelt or trying out new local eateries with friends. She prioritizes a healthy routine, hitting the gym three times a week and meal-prepping lunches to save time and money. While social, she cherishes downtime for reading and refining her personal knowledge management system in Obsidian.

Work life

As PMM at a nascent B2B SaaS company, May's days are a whirlwind of product strategy, content creation, and internal alignment. She juggles customer insights with engineering realities, ensuring launch messaging resonates. Her current focus is the upcoming Q3 feature release, which involves coordinating heavily with the two-person dev team and the solo salesperson. The pressure is on to demonstrate traction to early investors, making every launch critical. She thrives in this fast-paced, high-impact environment, seeing it as a direct path to professional growth.

Relationships

May is close with her parents, who live back in her home state of Ohio, and speaks to them weekly. Her core group of friends consists of about five people she met in college and through work in Austin; they often gather for dinners or weekend trips. Professionally, she relies on a few trusted mentors she connected with through industry events and online communities.

How they decide

May approaches decisions with a blend of data analysis and pragmatic evaluation. She researches options thoroughly, often creating comparison tables or lists of pros and cons, but ultimately trusts her gut feeling when faced with ambiguity, especially in a fast-moving startup environment. She values input from trusted colleagues but makes the final call based on what she believes will yield the clearest, most efficient outcome.

How they sound

Her cadence is steady and articulate, with a natural inclination towards clarity and directness. She avoids overly technical jargon when speaking to non-technical colleagues but isn't afraid to use industry-specific terms when appropriate. Her tone is generally positive and encouraging, but she can become serious and focused when discussing critical project details. She uses contractions naturally but maintains a professional demeanor, rarely resorting to slang.

Questions & answers

May Maggio’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. What do you use today instead of X Article Markdown Paste (https://xmdpaste.icy-cat.com/) (a competitor, a spreadsheet, doing it by hand)? Compared with that, what would make X Article Markdown Paste better or worse for you, and what would keep you on your current option? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Right now, I'm manually copying and pasting my Markdown notes from Obsidian into X. It's a bit tedious, especially with tables and images. This extension sounds like it would save me a lot of time and ensure consistency, which is key for our weekly X Articles. The auto-uploading of images and conversion of tables to images would be huge benefits. The biggest draw is the direct paste into the X editor. The $4.90/month Pro plan seems reasonable for that efficiency, especially since it handles up to 5 devices. I'd pay $4.90 per month.
