“Every scroll, every like, every message is a brushstroke on our brand's canvas; it's about painting a picture that people want to step into.”

Chrétien Roger, 26, is the dedicated social media lead for a three-person fashion boutique nestled in the heart of Paris. His journey into this role began with a Bachelor's in Communications, where he developed a keen eye for visual storytelling and digital engagement. He quickly realized his passion lay in the dynamic world of social media, particularly its power to build brand identity and foster community. Upon joining the boutique three years ago, he inherited a fragmented online presence and has since been instrumental in shaping its distinct aesthetic across Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp. Chrétien operates with a blend of creative flair and pragmatic resourcefulness, understanding the limitations of a small business budget. He's adept at maximizing his tools, relying on his Android phone for much of his content capture and real-time interaction, and his laptop for deeper analysis and scheduling. To manage the constant flow of customer inquiries and content reminders, he's integrated MacroDroid into his workflow, automating repetitive tasks and setting up custom notifications. He also maintains shared spreadsheets, meticulously tracking engagement metrics and customer feedback, which he uses to inform his content strategy. This hands-on approach reflects his strong sense of ownership over the brand's digital voice. Recently, he's been experimenting with more complex video editing techniques on his phone, inspired by emerging TikTok trends, aiming to create more immersive and engaging Reels. He also made a conscious decision to streamline his DM response process by creating pre-set reply templates for common questions, freeing up more time for creative content development. Chrétien views his role not just as a job, but as a creative endeavor, constantly seeking ways to enhance the boutique's appeal and connect with its audience on a deeper, more aesthetic level. His income of €34k/year necessitates careful financial planning, but he prioritizes investing in tools and experiences that directly benefit his professional growth and creative output, viewing each challenge as an opportunity to innovate.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Chrétien's weekday begins around 7:30 AM with an espresso and a quick scroll through overnight notifications on his Android. He commutes to the boutique by metro, listening to a podcast. By 9:30 AM, he's reviewing the shared spreadsheet for content ideas and customer service follow-ups. The morning is spent creating and scheduling posts for Instagram and TikTok, often involving quick photo shoots in the shop or editing user-generated content. Lunch is a brief affair, sometimes a sandwich eaten while reviewing analytics. The afternoon is dedicated to responding to DMs, coordinating with the team on new arrivals, and planning future campaigns. He often stays a bit late to capture the evening light for a street photography session near the shop before heading home to unwind, perhaps editing photos or watching a documentary.

Lifestyle

Chrétien navigates Parisian life with a blend of professional dedication and personal passion. He lives in a compact but stylish studio in the vibrant 11th arrondissement, prioritizing location and aesthetic over sheer space. His days are fueled by strong coffee from local boulangeries, and he often takes his lunch breaks to wander the streets, camera in hand, capturing fleeting moments of Parisian life. He enjoys exploring vintage shops for unique clothing finds and experimenting with new recipes in his small kitchen. While his income is modest, he's disciplined with his spending, focusing on experiences and quality over quantity, and occasionally splurges on a new photography lens or a well-designed piece of clothing.

Work life

As the sole social media lead for a small Parisian boutique, Chrétien wears many hats. His primary responsibility is crafting and executing the brand's online presence across Instagram, TikTok, and WhatsApp, ensuring a consistent aesthetic and engaging content. He juggles content creation, scheduling posts, responding to customer inquiries via DMs, and monitoring order status updates, often coordinating with the two other team members via shared spreadsheets. He relies heavily on his Android phone for on-the-go content capture and posting, supplemented by his laptop for more intensive editing and analytics. The pressure is on to drive engagement and sales with limited resources, making efficiency and creative problem-solving paramount.

Relationships

Chrétien maintains close ties with his family, who live in a suburb outside Paris and appreciate his career in communications. His core group of friends consists of fellow creatives—designers, photographers, and musicians—with whom he shares ideas and critiques. He has a strong professional rapport with the boutique's owner and seamstress, valuing their trust and creative input. His online community, though largely anonymous, provides a constant source of inspiration and feedback.

How they decide

Chrétien tends to be a research-driven decision-maker, especially when it comes to creative execution and platform strategy. He'll spend time observing trends, analyzing what works for similar brands, and experimenting with new features. For operational tasks, he's pragmatic, opting for the most efficient solution that leverages his existing tools, often influenced by what he can automate or streamline with his current setup.

How they sound

Speaks with a melodic, slightly rapid cadence, often using French colloquialisms and fashion-adjacent slang. He's articulate and enthusiastic when discussing creative projects but can become more concise and pragmatic when detailing operational challenges. He avoids overly technical jargon unless explaining a specific tool or process, preferring clear, descriptive language. His tone is generally optimistic and engaged.

Questions & answers

Chrétien Roger’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Twent (https://twent.xyz/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

This Twent app sounds rather incredible, automating things on the phone itself like that! The fact that it's "completely free" with "all features included" and "no credit card required" is, frankly, a no-brainer. I'm always looking for ways to streamline tasks, especially with MacroDroid and spreadsheets already in my workflow. If it can truly handle complex tasks and integrate with things, I'd happily pay for it if they ever decide to charge. Maybe around $5 a month would be my limit if it were to transition to paid, but for now, it’s perfect as it is. I'd expect robust automation, maybe even some content idea generation or scheduling assistance.
