“Every number tells a story; my job is to make sure we're listening to the right ones and acting on them before the narrative changes.”

Born and raised in a middle-class family in Pune, Chandira's early life was marked by a strong emphasis on education. Her parents, a retired engineer and a school teacher, instilled in her a deep sense of discipline and the value of hard work. This foundation led her to pursue an MBA, where she discovered a fascination for the intersection of business strategy and data analytics. After graduating, she honed her skills at a larger e-commerce firm before joining her current D2C brand four years ago, drawn by the prospect of making a more direct impact. She quickly became indispensable, taking ownership of the crucial weekly marketing and inventory reporting. Her current toolkit is a familiar constellation: Shopify exports for sales and product data, Meta Ads for campaign performance, Razorpay for payment gateway insights, and Google Sheets as her primary analytical workbench. The persistent thorn in her side is the manual reconciliation required to align her operational reports with the company's official Tally accounting software, a process she views as an inefficient but necessary evil. This weekly data chore, coupled with the constant pressure to drive growth for the 25-person brand, defines much of her professional routine. Chandira is pragmatic about her finances, her ₹18L income allowing for a comfortable lifestyle in Mumbai while also enabling significant savings towards her long-term goals. She sees time as a precious commodity, constantly seeking ways to optimize her workflows and free up mental bandwidth for more strategic initiatives. While status isn't her primary motivator, she values recognition for her analytical contributions and thrives on the collaborative spirit within her team.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Chandira's day begins with a quick check of overnight sales data and ad performance before her first cup of chai. Her morning is usually dedicated to pulling and consolidating weekly reports using Shopify exports, Meta Ads dashboards, and Razorpay transaction logs, meticulously organizing them in Google Sheets. She then heads into a stand-up meeting with her marketing and operations teams, discussing campaign performance and inventory levels. The afternoon is often spent analyzing trends, identifying anomalies, and preparing insights for the weekly growth meeting. A significant chunk of her time is also spent trying to reconcile these figures with the accountant's Tally reports, a task that frequently spills over into her evening if discrepancies arise. She wraps up by scheduling follow-ups and planning for the next day’s priorities.

Lifestyle

Chandira lives in a comfortable, modern apartment in Bandra, Mumbai, sharing it with her younger sister who is studying fashion design. Her commute to the office, even during peak Mumbai traffic, is a time she uses productively, catching up on podcasts or listening to the latest Bollywood soundtracks. She’s mindful of her finances, carefully budgeting her significant income, saving a portion for future travel and investments. Weekends often involve catching up with friends over brunch, occasionally hitting a new multiplex for a film, or diving into market research for potential side hustles.

Work life

As Growth Manager, Chandira is the go-to for understanding the business's pulse. Her days are a blend of data wrangling and strategic thinking. She spends considerable time pulling reports from Shopify, meticulously analyzing Meta Ads performance, and cross-referencing payment gateway data from Razorpay. The biggest friction point is reconciling these figures with the accountant's Tally reports, a manual, often tedious process she dreads but knows is critical for accuracy. She chairs the weekly cross-functional meeting, ensuring marketing initiatives align with inventory levels and sales projections, fostering a sense of shared responsibility across the small team.

Relationships

Chandira is close with her family, particularly her mother, with whom she speaks daily. Her younger sister is her confidante for personal matters. Her core group of friends, mostly met during her MBA, are a strong support system, often discussing career challenges and life milestones. Her direct manager, the founder of the D2C brand, is a key influencer, valuing her analytical input and pragmatic approach.

How they decide

Chandira is a highly pragmatic and research-oriented decision-maker. She weighs options carefully, always looking for the most efficient and cost-effective solution that delivers tangible results. She relies on data, past performance, and peer recommendations within her professional network before committing to a course of action. She isn't afraid to try new things but prefers well-trodden paths with clear benefits.

How they sound

Speaks with a clear, measured cadence, often using professional Hindi phrases mixed with English business jargon. Her tone is generally calm and confident, but can become more animated when discussing data insights or potential growth strategies. She avoids overly casual slang or excessive emotional expression, preferring to focus on facts and logical reasoning. When explaining complex data, she’ll often simplify it with analogies.

Questions & answers

Chandira Dubashi’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at tablearth (https://tablearth.ai/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The idea of connecting all my data sources and asking questions in plain English sounds incredibly useful. Especially the Tally integration, that would save me so much manual reconciliation time. For it to be a no-brainer, I'd expect it to handle all my Shopify exports, Meta Ads data, and Tally numbers seamlessly, giving me real-time insights and freeing up at least 5 hours a week. A price around $150 USD per month would be the sweet spot. Anything over $300 USD per month would make me pause and reconsider, especially with our D2C brand's current stage.
