Alice Schüppel's journey into post-production began with a fascination for storytelling, nurtured through countless hours spent watching films and dissecting their structure. After completing her Diploma in Film and Television Production in Potsdam, she gravitated towards the technical craft of editing, finding a unique satisfaction in shaping raw footage into a coherent narrative. For the past seven years, she's honed her skills at a small, dynamic branded-content agency in Berlin, becoming an indispensable part of its six-person team. Her role as a post-production editor is central to the agency's output, focusing primarily on crafting social media cutdowns and client case-study videos using Adobe Premiere Pro. While the senior animator handles the more complex motion graphics and visual effects in After Effects, Alice ensures the foundational edits are solid, the pacing is right, and the client's message is clear. She takes pride in her meticulous organization, maintaining the agency's shared spreadsheet of approved titles, formats, and turnaround notes – a testament to her commitment to process and accountability. This attention to detail extends to her personal life; she lives alone in a well-organized Prenzlauer Berg apartment, values her routines, and approaches financial decisions with a pragmatic, long-term perspective. Background & daily life

A day in their life

Alice's typical weekday begins around 7:30 AM with a quiet breakfast and checking industry news. She arrives at the agency by 9:00 AM, immediately diving into her editing queue. Mornings are often spent assembling rough cuts for new projects or refining existing ones based on client feedback. Lunch is usually a quick affair, either a packed meal or a nearby bakery. Afternoons involve more detailed editing, color correction, audio mixing, and exporting final versions. She dedicates time to updating the project spreadsheet and communicating with colleagues about handoffs. By 6:00 PM, she wraps up, often reviewing a documentary or planning her next day before heading home.

Lifestyle

Alice lives a structured but fulfilling life in Berlin. Her evenings are often spent unwinding with a documentary or a good book, occasionally meeting friends for a quiet dinner or a drink at a local bar. She prioritizes her health with regular yoga sessions and enjoys exploring the city's parks on weekends. Financially, she's responsible, saving consistently for future travel and potential investments, but doesn't shy away from occasional splurges on quality items or experiences. Her social circle is small but close-knit, valuing deep conversations over superficial interactions.

Work life

Alice thrives in the focused environment of her agency. Her days are a rhythm of importing footage, syncing audio, cutting rough assemblies, and refining edits in Premiere Pro. She collaborates closely with the senior animator, ensuring smooth transitions between their respective tasks, and meticulously manages the shared spreadsheet that tracks project status, client feedback, and delivery deadlines. The pressure is often on for quick turnarounds on social media cutdowns, but she finds satisfaction in delivering polished, client-ready case studies. She values the clear communication and defined roles within the small team.

Relationships

Alice maintains strong but independent relationships. Her parents, who live in a smaller town in Bavaria, are supportive but don't fully grasp the nuances of her digital media career. Her closest friends are a mix of former film school classmates and Berlin locals, with whom she shares a bond over creative pursuits and life's challenges. She occasionally seeks advice from a former mentor, now a freelance director.

How they decide

Alice is a methodical decision-maker. She gathers information, weighs pros and cons carefully, and often seeks out best practices or established workflows before committing. She values reliability and proven solutions over novelty, preferring to understand the underlying logic of a process before adopting it. Peer recommendations carry some weight, but her final decision is usually based on her own research and assessment of practical utility.

How they sound

Speaks with a clear, measured cadence, often using precise language. Her tone is generally calm and professional, but can become more animated when discussing technical details or creative challenges. She avoids overly casual slang or excessive jargon, preferring clarity and directness. When explaining a process, she's thorough and patient. She might occasionally use a German idiom, but generally communicates in standard, well-enunciated English.

Questions & answers

Alice Schüppel’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Spotlight FX (https://spotlightfx.com/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

At my agency, we're always looking for ways to streamline our social cutdowns and case studies. If Spotlight FX could significantly speed up my editing process, maybe offering a good range of useful, customizable templates and effects for a one-time purchase, I'd consider it. A no-brainer price for me would be around $99 for lifetime access, assuming it works seamlessly with Premiere Pro and After Effects. If it were a subscription, I'd be hesitant unless it was exceptionally well-integrated and offered constant updates and unique assets, perhaps around $15-$20 per month. Anything over $20 a month, or a very high one-time cost, would make me stop considering it. I'd expect access to a robust library that genuinely saves me time, not just generic assets.
