“Every line of code, every spreadsheet entry, every user interaction – it all has to build towards making the game easier to play, not harder.”

Geneviève Perrot, 31, is a driving force behind 'Padel Connect Paris', a burgeoning startup aiming to streamline court bookings for the rapidly growing padel community in the French capital. Armed with a Master's in Business Administration from a reputable Parisian business school, she co-founded the company three years ago with two friends who shared her passion for the sport and a vision for its digital future. Initially, the platform was a rudimentary system built with off-the-shelf tools, but Geneviève, recognizing the need for a more robust and scalable solution, has been instrumental in its evolution. She now oversees the customer-facing web portal, working closely with a contract developer. Her technical understanding, while not that of a seasoned engineer, is practical; she can decipher Tailwind CSS code, enabling her to provide informed feedback and make minor adjustments. Content management is a meticulous process, primarily handled through extensive spreadsheets that dictate court availability, pricing, and partner information. For the marketing pages and the core booking flow, she's leveraged DaisyUI-style building blocks, prioritizing a clean, intuitive user experience. Geneviève is deeply invested in the startup's success, viewing her €62k salary as a necessary investment in her future, alongside the significant equity stake she holds. She lives a disciplined life, balancing the intense demands of her role with personal pursuits like playing padel and planning international travel. Her financial habits are geared towards long-term goals, saving diligently for both business reinvestment and personal adventures. She views time as a critical, finite resource, constantly seeking ways to optimize workflows and maximize impact, both for the business and for her own development. Her recent focus has been on refining the user onboarding process for new court partners, aiming to reduce friction and accelerate adoption, a testament to her customer-centric approach and drive for operational simplicity.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Geneviève's typical weekday begins around 7:00 AM with a quick workout or a walk. By 8:30 AM, she's at her home office, fueled by coffee, reviewing overnight analytics and responding to urgent emails. Her mornings are often dedicated to strategic planning, coordinating with her developer on upcoming tasks, and updating the content spreadsheet. Lunch is usually a quick affair, eaten at her desk while catching up on industry news. Afternoons are a mix of user support, onboarding new partners, and attending virtual or in-person meetings. She often finishes her 'official' workday around 7:00 PM, but frequently revisits her laptop later in the evening to finalize tasks or brainstorm new ideas. She tries to schedule a padel game at least once a week to decompress.

Lifestyle

Geneviève lives in a cozy apartment in the 11th arrondissement of Paris. She starts her days with a brisk morning run along the Seine before enjoying a coffee at a nearby café. She enjoys playing padel on weekends and often spends her evenings experimenting with new no-code tools or planning her next travel adventure. Work life

As co-founder and operations lead for 'Padel Connect Paris', Geneviève's days are a constant juggle. She manages the customer-facing web portal, which involves coordinating with her contract developer for new features and bug fixes. Her primary tool for content management is a complex spreadsheet that feeds into the site's booking system and information pages. She's also responsible for onboarding new court partners and ensuring smooth operations. The pressure is high to grow user acquisition and retention, especially with limited resources. Her workday often extends into the evenings, especially when a new feature launch is imminent or a critical bug needs immediate attention.

Relationships

Geneviève maintains strong professional relationships with her two co-founders, sharing a deep sense of mutual respect and shared vision. She has a good working rapport with her contract developer, valuing his technical expertise. Her social circle includes fellow entrepreneurs she met through startup events and a close-knit group of friends from her university days, many of whom are also navigating demanding careers.

How they decide

Geneviève approaches decisions with a blend of analytical rigor and a strong focus on customer feedback. She meticulously gathers data, weighs pros and cons, and often consults with her co-founders. While she values efficiency and simplicity, she's not afraid to invest time in research if a decision has significant long-term implications for the product or user experience. She trusts her intuition but always seeks to validate it with evidence.

How they sound

Geneviève speaks with a clear, articulate French accent, her tone generally calm and measured. She uses precise language, avoiding excessive slang, but can become more animated when discussing her passion for the startup or padel. Questions & answers

Geneviève Perrot’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. What do you use today instead of SportyBlocks (https://sportyblocks.com/) (a competitor, a spreadsheet, doing it by hand)? Compared with that, what would make SportyBlocks better or worse for you, and what would keep you on your current option? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Currently, we manage our court booking system using a combination of spreadsheets for data management and DaisyUI-style building blocks for the user-facing elements of our website. SportyBlocks could be better if it offers more flexibility or integrations than what we currently have, especially for managing availability and bookings dynamically. However, if it's just static UI components and doesn't streamline our operational workflow or the onboarding of new partners, it might not be an improvement. The fact that it's a one-time purchase without a subscription is appealing given our budget constraints. I'd be willing to pay around $50 per month for a tool that significantly simplifies our operations and enhances our customer portal without requiring extensive development resources.
