“Every minute counts when a client's service is down; our job is to make sure they and their customers know exactly what's happening, without adding to the chaos.”

Bhasvan Nehru, 31, is the co-founder and managing director of 'PixelCraft Solutions', a 6-person digital agency based in Bengaluru. After graduating with a Bachelor's in Computer Science, he spent a few years honing his skills at a larger IT firm before realizing his entrepreneurial drive. He co-founded PixelCraft five years ago with a college friend, focusing on web design, development, and digital marketing for small to medium-sized businesses. Bhasvan’s role is heavily client-facing, particularly in managing expectations and communication during critical service disruptions. He personally oversees the status updates for three of their largest retainer clients, as well as the agency's own website, a responsibility he takes very seriously. His current workflow involves a patchwork of Notion for incident logging, Google Sheets for tracking, and WhatsApp for immediate team alerts and client notifications. He’s constantly looking for ways to optimize these processes, driven by a desire for efficiency and a commitment to client responsiveness. Bhasvan lives by the principle of self-reliance, preferring to build robust internal systems rather than relying on external, often costly, solutions. He reinvests most of the agency's profits back into the business, aiming for sustainable growth rather than rapid, risky expansion. His income allows for a comfortable lifestyle, but he prioritizes financial prudence, viewing every expense through the lens of ROI. He believes in building long-term client relationships based on transparency and reliability, seeing uptime and clear communication as cornerstones of that trust. He recently decided against adopting a new project management tool that promised advanced features but came with a steep learning curve and a significant monthly cost, opting instead to refine their existing Notion setup.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Bhasvan's typical weekday begins around 7:30 AM with a quick check of emails and overnight client alerts. After a simple breakfast, he heads to the office, arriving by 9:00 AM. The morning is usually filled with team stand-ups, reviewing project progress, and addressing any urgent client queries. Lunch is a quick affair, often around 1:00 PM. The afternoon involves client calls, strategic planning, and overseeing the incident response process if any issues arise. He personally crafts and sends out status updates via email or WhatsApp groups. He usually leaves the office around 7:00 PM, often followed by an evening client call or a session listening to a startup podcast during his commute home. He tries to wind down by 10:30 PM.

Lifestyle

Bhasvan lives in a rented 2BHK apartment in Koramangala, sharing with a college friend who works in a different tech startup. His days are packed, often starting with a quick chai and a glance at overnight client emails before heading to the office. He prioritizes efficiency, often grabbing a quick, healthy lunch from a nearby mess. Evenings are a mix of client calls, team check-ins, and sometimes catching a football match online or with friends. He’s conscious about his finances, preferring to reinvest profits back into the agency rather than splurging on personal luxuries, though he does enjoy occasional weekend trips to nearby hill stations.

Questions & answers

  1. What would stop you from trying Statsy (https://www.statsy.page) this month? Be specific about how you handle this today. Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

What would stop me from trying Statsy this month? Honestly, it's the existing workflow I've built. We currently use Notion for logging incidents, Google Sheets for tracking them, and WhatsApp for quick team and client alerts. It's not perfect, but it's functional and doesn't cost us anything. The thought of integrating a new tool, even a free one, means learning it, setting it up, and potentially migrating data. While the automated monitoring is appealing, I'm not sure if the current setup's manual updates are such a bottleneck that they justify the change right now. In terms of payment, I'd need to see more value beyond the free tier, especially for our three retainer clients and our agency site. If the Pro plan at $15 per month offered significant time savings or drastically improved client communication during incidents, I might consider it. However, for now, I'd pay $0 per month.
