“It's all about keeping the wheels turning smoothly, you know? Making sure everyone's in the loop and nobody's left waiting too long.”

Hazel Cole, 24, is a dedicated Recruiting Coordinator based in Manchester, UK, where she lives alone in a one-bedroom flat in Ancoats. Holding a Bachelor's degree, she entered the recruiting field two years ago and has found her niche supporting a small, three-person agency. Her income of GBP 29k is carefully managed, with a focus on saving for future goals like a property deposit and travel. Hazel's personality is a blend of conscientiousness and agreeableness; she's highly organized and diligent in her work, aiming for fairness and efficiency in all her interactions. Her openness score suggests a moderate curiosity, while her lower neuroticism indicates a generally stable emotional state, though she can experience moments of anxiety under pressure. She's naturally extraverted and enjoys connecting with people, which serves her well in her role. Her interests lean towards the cultural and analytical, with a deep dive into true crime podcasts, a keen eye for vintage fashion, and a love for Manchester's live music scene. She’s pragmatic in her approach to life, preferring functional solutions and often seeking out value for money, which extends to her professional tools – she currently relies on free platforms and a shared Google Sheet for her writing needs, having never felt the need to invest in paid writing software. This approach is driven by a desire for practicality and a slight skepticism towards unnecessary expenses, though she's not entirely averse to new solutions if they can demonstrably improve her workflow without significant cost or complexity. Her recent decision to meticulously organize all common candidate communication phrases into a shared Google Sheet was a direct response to the daily pressure of maintaining high responsiveness across multiple communication channels, aiming to streamline her efforts and ensure consistency in her outreach and feedback summaries.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Hazel’s day typically starts around 7:30 AM with a quick scroll through Instagram and checking the news headlines on her phone. After a simple breakfast, she heads to the office, usually arriving by 8:45 AM. The morning is a flurry of responding to urgent candidate queries, scheduling interviews for the day, and drafting initial outreach messages for new roles. Lunch is often a quick sandwich at her desk while listening to a podcast. The afternoon involves following up on interview feedback, sending out confirmation emails, and updating candidate statuses in their system. She aims to leave by 5:30 PM, often feeling a slight rush to get everything done. Evenings are for unwinding, cooking, or meeting Liam for a drink.

Lifestyle

Hazel’s flat is a carefully curated mix of vintage finds (a mid-century modern chair rescued from a charity shop) and practical, functional furniture. She enjoys cooking, mostly simple but tasty meals after a long day, often listening to a true crime podcast while she does. Weekends are a mix of exploring Manchester’s vibrant music scene, browsing vintage shops with her friend, Liam, and catching up on laundry and grocery shopping. Hazel is generally healthy, enjoys long walks around the canals, and tries to save a little each month for a holiday – Edinburgh is top of her list. She’s mindful of spending, favouring quality over quantity and often searching for deals.

Work life

Hazel thrives on the fast pace of her recruiting agency, where she's the primary support for the three recruiters. Her days are a constant juggle of drafting candidate outreach messages, confirming interview schedules via email and WhatsApp, and meticulously summarizing interview feedback. She relies heavily on a shared Google Sheet to store and adapt common phrases, ensuring consistency and speed. While she enjoys the collaborative aspect of her small team, the pressure to respond quickly and maintain clear communication across multiple platforms can be intense. She’s proud of her ability to keep things running smoothly, even when things get hectic.

Relationships

Hazel lives alone but maintains close ties with her parents, who live in a nearby town, speaking to them a few times a week. Her closest friend is Liam, a fellow Manchester resident with whom she shares a love for vintage fashion and live music; they often influence each other’s weekend plans. Her colleagues, the three recruiters she supports, are a friendly but busy bunch, and she respects their professional drive.

How they decide

Hazel tends to be pragmatic and research-oriented when making decisions, especially about personal purchases. She’ll compare options, read reviews if available, and often seek a recommendation from Liam or her parents. For work-related tools or processes, she’s more inclined to stick with what’s familiar and functional, especially if it’s free, unless a clear, significant improvement is demonstrated.

How they sound

Hazel speaks with a clear, friendly tone, often using mild Manchester slang like 'proper' or 'buzzing' when excited. Her cadence is generally steady, but can quicken when she’s explaining something she’s passionate about or feeling rushed. She avoids overly technical jargon and prefers straightforward, polite language, especially in professional contexts. She’s not one for excessive exclamation points or overly casual abbreviations in her written communication.

  1. What would stop you from trying Rewritly (https://getrewritly.com/) this month? Be specific about how you handle this today. Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Honestly, what would stop me is the fact that I already have a system that works using a shared Google Sheet. It’s free and I’ve spent time organising all our common phrases there. While Rewritly sounds handy for fixing things on the go without copy-pasting, I’m not sure it would be a massive improvement on my current workflow that would justify a cost. My maximum I would pay is $0 per month. I’m happy with my current free setup.
