“The true measure of an agent isn't its intention, but the verifiable proof of its actions.”

Born and raised in a middle-class family in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, Kamlesh developed an early fascination with how things work. His aptitude for mathematics and science led him to pursue a BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering at a reputable university in Hyderabad. Upon graduation, he joined a large tech firm as a software engineer, where he honed his skills in distributed systems and backend development over six years. During this time, he observed the growing potential of AI agents but also the critical need for transparency and accountability in their operations. This observation, coupled with a desire for greater autonomy and the chance to build something impactful from the ground up, led him to co-found his current startup three years ago. He poured his savings into the venture, driven by a belief in ownership and the pursuit of technical depth. His current income reflects his cofounder status and the startup's early stage, a compromise he accepts for the long-term vision. He remains deeply committed to open-source principles, believing in collaborative development and knowledge sharing. His professional life is characterized by a relentless focus on building robust, verifiable systems, meticulously tracking every aspect of agent execution using a combination of logs, GitHub issues, and a paid commercial tracing tool, which he views as a necessary investment despite its cost. He’s consciously building a company that prioritizes resilience and integrity, values he deeply holds.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Kamlesh's day typically begins around 6:30 AM with a cup of strong South Indian coffee, followed by an hour of deep work on a challenging coding problem or architectural design. After a quick breakfast, he dives into startup operations, attending a stand-up with his cofounder to align on priorities. The bulk of his day is spent coding, debugging agent execution logs using their tracing tool, and optimizing cloud configurations. He might spend an hour reviewing pull requests from their nascent agent frameworks. Lunch is usually a simple meal at his desk. Afternoons involve strategic planning, reviewing customer feedback, and occasionally researching new open-source tools. He finishes his workday around 8 PM, often with a brief walk before dinner.

Lifestyle

Kamlesh lives in a modest but well-maintained apartment in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, with his wife, a software engineer. Their routine is structured: early mornings are for personal projects or catching up on global tech news before his wife heads to her office. Evenings are a mix of intense work, quick home-cooked meals, and occasional walks in the nearby park. He's disciplined with finances, prioritizing investment in their startup and future security over immediate luxury. Social life is limited but meaningful, revolving around a close-knit group of college friends and occasional cricket matches on weekends.

Work life

As CTO and cofounder of a nascent research-agent startup, Kamlesh's workdays are a relentless pursuit of technical excellence and product viability. He splits his time between architecting core agent logic, debugging execution flows, and managing their lean cloud infrastructure. His primary tools are VS Code, Python, Docker, and increasingly, a commercial tracing tool that he finds essential, despite its cost. He relies heavily on GitHub issues for task management and meticulously reviews JSON logs to understand agent behavior. The pressure is immense, with only two people to cover all technical bases, and the constant need to prove the system's reliability.

Relationships

Kamlesh's primary professional relationship is with his cofounder, a strategic and business-minded counterpart. His technical decisions are also influenced by a small network of trusted senior engineers he connected with during his previous corporate roles. At home, his wife offers support and a grounding perspective, understanding the demands of startup life.

How they decide

Kamlesh is a research-heavy and analytical decision-maker. He meticulously evaluates options, consults technical documentation, reviews case studies, and often runs small-scale proofs-of-concept before committing. Peer input from trusted technical colleagues is valuable, but the final decision rests on rigorous data and his own technical judgment.

How they sound

Kamlesh speaks with a measured, clear cadence, often pausing to articulate technical concepts precisely. His English is fluent but carries a subtle South Indian accent. He avoids hyperbole and prefers factual statements. He's not overly formal but maintains professional decorum, especially in discussions about system architecture or business strategy.

Questions & answers

  1. What would stop you from trying AEVS (https://aevs.fetch.ai) this month? Be specific about how you handle this today. Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The primary reason I might hesitate to try AEVS this month is resource allocation. As a two-person startup, our development bandwidth is extremely limited. Currently, we're using a commercial tracing tool and supplementing it with GitHub issues and JSON logs for reviewing agent execution. It's a manual but functional process. If AEVS offers a significant improvement in verifiable execution, especially for audits, I'd consider it. Regarding price, I'd be willing to pay up to $50 per month, as our budget is constrained.
