“Structure is everything; if the foundation isn't solid, the whole edifice is just waiting to crumble.”

Born and raised in the Netherlands, Loet developed an early aptitude for logical systems and problem-solving. His Bachelor's degree in Business Administration provided a foundational understanding of market dynamics, but it was during internships that he discovered a passion for the intricate, data-driven world of digital marketing, specifically SEO. After graduating, he spent a brief period at a small agency before realizing his preference for autonomy and direct client impact. He launched his freelance career four years ago, focusing on providing tangible value to businesses that might not have in-house expertise. He honed his skills by taking on diverse projects, from local plumbers needing better online visibility to early-stage tech startups aiming for rapid user acquisition. His current workflow, a carefully curated system of Notion for project management and client notes, Google Sheets for tracking keyword performance and analytics, and Figma comments for feedback on site mockups, has served him well. However, he recently encountered a recurring client scenario where the initial site architecture sign-off felt clunkier than it needed to be, prompting him to contemplate more streamlined solutions. He prides himself on his evidence-based approach, meticulously analyzing data before recommending strategies, a trait that has earned him the trust of his clients. Loet views his career not just as a job, but as a continuous process of learning and refining efficient systems. He's pragmatic about finances, saving diligently while reinvesting strategically in his business, such as upgrading his laptop or subscribing to premium analytics tools when the ROI is clear. He values his independence immensely, cherishing the flexibility to set his own hours and choose clients that align with his professional interests, while being disciplined enough to meet deadlines and deliver consistent quality.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Loet's weekday typically starts around 7:00 AM with a quick breakfast and scanning industry headlines. By 8:30 AM, he's at his desk, often tackling client reporting or deep-dive analytics for a local e-commerce business. He might have a scheduled Zoom call with a startup founder around 10:00 AM to walk through a proposed site tree. Lunch is usually a quick affair, eaten while reviewing competitor analysis. The afternoon is spent refining content briefs for a service-based client and responding to emails. He tries to wrap up by 6:00 PM, perhaps going for a cycle or meeting a friend for a drink, before preparing dinner and planning the next day's priorities.

Lifestyle

Loet lives a focused, urban life in Amsterdam. His days revolve heavily around his freelance work, often starting early to maximize productivity before the city fully awakens. He rents a modest one-bedroom apartment in a slightly quieter neighborhood, valuing its proximity to a park for his occasional runs. Evenings are typically spent cooking simple, healthy meals or catching up on industry news. Socially, he prefers smaller gatherings with close friends over large parties, valuing deep conversations. He's mindful of his spending, aiming for long-term financial stability rather than immediate gratification, and enjoys exploring new cycling routes on weekends.

Work life

As a freelance SEO consultant, Loet's workdays are highly structured. Mornings are often dedicated to deep work like analyzing data, planning site structures, or writing client reports. Afternoons might involve client calls, content strategy sessions, or outreach. He juggles multiple client projects simultaneously, requiring meticulous organization. The pressure comes from delivering tangible results and managing client expectations, especially with startups who are budget-conscious. He finds satisfaction in untangling complex website issues and building a clear, logical path for user journeys and search engines. His current workflow, while functional, sometimes feels like it's on the cusp of outgrowing its current toolset.

Relationships

Loet maintains a close circle of friends, mostly fellow freelancers or professionals in the digital space, with whom he exchanges insights and commiserates about client work. His parents, living in a smaller town in Friesland, are supportive but don't fully grasp the nuances of his digital career. He occasionally seeks advice from a former university professor who now runs a small marketing agency.

How they decide

Loet is a research-heavy decision-maker. He meticulously weighs options, gathers data, and looks for logical justifications. He's not easily swayed by hype and prefers solutions that demonstrably solve a problem he's experiencing. While he values efficiency, he won't compromise on thoroughness, often creating comparison tables or flowcharts in his own notes before committing to a new tool or significant process change.

Speaks with a clear, measured cadence, using precise language. Avoids excessive slang but incorporates relevant industry jargon naturally. His tone is generally informative and objective, occasionally showing enthusiasm when discussing successful strategies or data insights. 1. Think about your own work or business in this area: Maker launch on TinyLaunch: Your client's site structure, signed off before the mockups. the product is a site structure tool for web agencies and freelancers who build websites for… What is the single biggest problem you have there right now? Be specific about what it costs you (time, money, customers) and what you have already tried.

The biggest hurdle I face is getting clients, especially startups with tight budgets, to fully commit to a site structure before we've even discussed visual design. It's often a back-and-forth, trying to explain the long-term value and how it impacts their SEO down the line. I currently use Figma comments and shared links for this, but it can feel disjointed. It adds time because I have to manually translate feedback into structural changes, and if they don't buy in early, it can lead to costly rework later. I've tried to make it more visual with simple flowcharts in Notion, but it's still not as streamlined as it could be.
