“The real challenge isn't just finding people, it's finding the *right* people quickly enough to keep the business moving forward.”

Born and raised in a medium-sized city near Warsaw, Nikodem developed an early appreciation for order and efficiency, partly influenced by his father's meticulous approach to his accounting work. He excelled academically, particularly in subjects requiring logical thinking and problem-solving. During his BA in Management at the University of Warsaw, he discovered a fascination with organizational dynamics and human resources, seeing it as a field where process optimization could directly impact business success. He interned in HR at a logistics company, gaining initial exposure to high-volume recruitment, which solidified his interest. Upon graduation, he was recruited by the e-commerce company where he now works, drawn by the fast-paced environment and the opportunity to build efficient recruitment processes from the ground up. He has been in his current role for three years, steadily improving workflows and candidate tracking systems. Nikodem is driven by a desire for tangible results and continuous improvement. He views his income as a means to achieve future security and experiences, rather than immediate gratification, carefully budgeting for savings and planned expenditures. He’s pragmatic about status, valuing professional competence and effectiveness over outward displays of wealth. His approach to work is characterized by a strong sense of responsibility and a commitment to getting things done accurately and on time, reflecting his high conscientiousness. He is currently focused on streamlining the initial screening process for warehouse roles, experimenting with automated outreach sequences to reduce response times.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Nikodem's weekday typically starts around 7:00 AM. After a quick breakfast and checking sports news, he commutes to the office, listening to an HR tech podcast. His workday begins with reviewing overnight applications and prioritizing urgent roles. He spends a significant portion of his morning responding to candidates via WhatsApp and email, scheduling initial screening calls, and updating the Teamtailor system. Lunch is usually a quick affair at his desk while reviewing candidate profiles. The afternoon involves conducting some initial phone screenings, coordinating interview schedules with hiring managers, and troubleshooting any candidate communication issues. He often stays a bit late to ensure all urgent tasks are completed, before heading home to prepare dinner and unwind.

Nikodem lives a structured but dynamic life in Warsaw. He rents a modern one-bedroom apartment in the Mokotów district, which he keeps meticulously organized. His evenings often involve a quick home-cooked meal, followed by catching up on industry news or watching football highlights. He prioritizes efficiency, using smart home devices to streamline his routine. While he enjoys occasional nights out with friends, he's generally focused on his career and personal development. He saves diligently, aiming for future travel and potential investments, but isn't overly frugal, enjoying new tech gadgets when they offer genuine utility.

Work life

As a recruiting coordinator for a growing e-commerce firm, Nikodem's days are a constant juggle. He manages candidate pipelines for diverse roles, from warehouse operatives to junior marketers, across Poland and the Baltics. His primary tools are Teamtailor for ATS, WhatsApp for quick candidate communication, and email for formal exchanges. The pressure is on to fill roles quickly, especially for the warehouse operations, which have high turnover. He works closely with the HR manager and hiring managers, ensuring a smooth, albeit sometimes frantic, candidate experience. Recent decisions involve refining WhatsApp message templates for faster initial outreach.

Relationships

Nikodem maintains a close circle of friends from university, with whom he shares a passion for football and occasional weekend trips. He has a good working relationship with his HR manager, who acts as a mentor, and generally gets along well with the hiring managers, though he sometimes finds their urgent requests challenging to meet. His family lives in a smaller town outside Warsaw, and he visits them monthly.

How they decide

Nikodem tends to be research-oriented and data-informed when making decisions, especially regarding work processes or tools. Questions & answers

Nikodem Tarnowski’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Recruit AI by Ribbon (https://www.ribbon.ai/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Looking at Ribbon, the idea of automating initial candidate screening, especially for warehouse roles, is very appealing. The 24/7 availability and multi-channel outreach could really help with our high volume and speed-of-hire needs. I'd consider a no-brainer price around $150-$250 per month, as that seems manageable for a tool that could significantly reduce my workload. Anything over $400 per month would likely be too much for our current budget, given we're a 120-person company. I'd expect features like robust ATS integration, clear scoring and ranking of candidates, and perhaps some basic analytics on candidate responses for that price. The pricing basis is unclear; I assume it's per month.
