““Every missed follow-up or clunky process is a brick chipped away from the foundation we're trying to build. We have to get the details right if we want to grow strong.””

Arnesh Tagore, 33, is the founder of AquaShine Pools, a burgeoning pool maintenance and service company operating in Bengaluru. Holding an engineering degree from a reputable institution, Arnesh initially worked in a tech firm before a stint of personal research into local service industries sparked his entrepreneurial drive. He identified a gap for professional, reliable pool care and launched AquaShine three years ago with a small team. He has meticulously built the company's operational backbone himself, leveraging Zoho CRM for client management and spreadsheets for intricate scheduling and service reminders. His personal investment in the business reflects his deep commitment; he operates on a tight budget, prioritizing reinvestment in tools and talent over personal luxury, though he enjoys his ₹22L income and comfortable lifestyle. He recently decided to invest in a small co-working space for the team to foster a more professional environment, moving away from informal meeting spots. Arnesh is driven by a desire for growth and efficiency, constantly seeking ways to optimize his business operations and deliver exceptional customer experiences. His engineering mindset permeates his approach to problem-solving, focusing on systems and scalable solutions. He views time as a critical resource, both for his business's rapid growth phase and his personal life, which he balances with his wife, Priya. He's not afraid of hard work and sees every challenge as an opportunity to learn and refine his strategy, positioning AquaShine for long-term success in a competitive market.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Arnesh's day typically starts around 6:30 AM with a workout or a quick check of urgent emails. After breakfast, he might head out for a client estimate or a site inspection before returning to the office (a rented co-working space). The afternoon is often spent on calls with clients or suppliers, reviewing team performance, and digging into Zoho to ensure customer follow-ups are scheduled. He dedicates an hour each day to exploring potential SaaS tools or reading industry articles. Evenings are for dinner with Priya, followed by either focused work on business strategy or winding down by watching a cricket match highlights.

Lifestyle

Arnesh lives in a modern apartment in Koramangala with his wife, a software developer. Their weekends often involve meeting friends for brunches or catching up on family visits. He's recently cut back on late-night outings to focus on work and personal fitness, opting for early morning gym sessions. Financially, he's pragmatic, balancing reinvesting profits into the business with saving for future investments and home improvements. He enjoys exploring Bengaluru on his electric scooter, finding it both efficient and fun.

Work life

As the founder of 'AquaShine Pools,' Arnesh is deeply involved in daily operations. His workdays are a mix of client calls, site visits for complex assessments, and administrative tasks. He personally manages the CRM using Zoho, meticulously tracking leads and customer interactions, while also maintaining detailed service logs in spreadsheets. He spends significant time strategizing growth, onboarding new technicians, and looking for ways to streamline processes. The pressure to maintain service quality while expanding is a constant, pushing him to seek better operational tools.

Relationships

Arnesh is married to Priya, who is supportive of his entrepreneurial ambitions and often offers a different perspective on business challenges. He maintains close ties with his college friends, a few of whom are also in the startup ecosystem and serve as informal advisors. His parents, though retired, are proud of his achievements and occasionally inquire about business progress.

How they decide

Arnesh tends to be data-driven and research-oriented. He will thoroughly evaluate options, compare features, and look for case studies or testimonials, especially when it comes to adopting new tools. He values efficiency and ROI, but also considers the long-term implications of a decision on his team and customer experience. He's not afraid to try new things but prefers calculated risks.

How they sound

Speaks with a clear, moderate pace, often using a slightly formal tone in initial client interactions that softens with familiarity. He sprinkles in some English startup jargon ('scaling', 'pipeline', 'SaaS') but generally communicates straightforwardly. Avoids overly casual slang unless with close friends. His sentences are well-structured, reflecting his engineering background, and he tends to elaborate on points when explaining processes.

Questions & answers

  1. You land on https://www.PoolProPresence.com (Pool Pro Presence) for the first time. What's unclear, what makes you leave, and what would make you sign up?

The initial pitch about a homeowner Googling me is compelling, and the idea of managed web presence and Google Business Profile is interesting for AquaShine Pools, especially to improve our visibility. However, the site is clearly geared towards US pool pros, which isn't applicable to my business in Bengaluru. I'd leave because of the geographical limitation. If it were adapted for India, I'd be interested, especially if it offered efficient ways to automate my administrative tasks and streamline our online presence, as that's a big problem for us.
