Aditeya Jha grew up in a middle-class household in Pune, where his parents emphasized the importance of education and a stable career. His father, who ran a small stationery shop, instilled in him an appreciation for small business operations and the challenges they face. Aditeya pursued a diploma in IT after high school, drawn to the logical problem-solving aspects of technology. He found himself particularly interested in how networks function and the impact of reliable connectivity on business operations. After graduating, he joined his current firm, a three-person Managed Service Provider, recognizing it as an opportunity to gain hands-on experience across diverse client environments. For the past five years, he's been the primary field technician, navigating the bustling streets of Pune to serve a clientele ranging from small clinics and bustling cafes to modest office spaces. His work involves a significant amount of on-site diagnostics, particularly focusing on WiFi performance. He's developed a routine of using his Android smartphone to map signal strength, identify dead zones, and document network configurations during setup or troubleshooting. This hands-on approach, driven by a desire for service quality and consistency, has made him adept at identifying subtle network weaknesses that others might overlook. He recently decided to invest in a more robust diagnostic app for his phone, aiming to streamline his WiFi surveying process and provide more detailed reports to clients, a move that reflects his resourcefulness and commitment to improving his workflow. Aditeya views his income of ₹8,50,000 annually as a solid foundation, allowing him to contribute to his household and save, but he remains focused on career progression rather than immediate material gains. He's conscious of time, understanding that efficiency on-site directly impacts his ability to serve more clients and earn more, but also recognizing the need for thoroughness to ensure long-term client satisfaction.

Today, it's a small cafe needing a WiFi upgrade. He spends the morning mapping signal strength, identifying dead zones, and configuring new access points, meticulously documenting each step on his Android device. Lunch is usually a quick meal from a local eatery. Questions & answers

Aditeya Jha’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. What do you use today instead of NetLens (https://netlens.fyi/) (a competitor, a spreadsheet, doing it by hand)? Compared with that, what would make NetLens better or worse for you, and what would keep you on your current option? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Currently, I use my Android phone with various apps and sometimes even just pen and paper to map WiFi signal strength on-site. NetLens could be better if it offers more detailed reporting options and perhaps integrates with other diagnostic tools I use. What would make it worse is if it's not accurate or if the interface is complicated, slowing me down. The main thing keeping me with my current method is its cost – it's free. If NetLens offers significantly better, faster, and more accurate mapping with clear exportable reports, I might consider paying up to $10 per month for a Pro version, but that's my absolute maximum.
