“The most effective operations are built on clear, accessible documentation and consistent execution. If it's not written down and easy to find, it might as well not exist.”

Maxime Klein, 36, has carved out a vital role as the Chief Operating Officer for a burgeoning ecommerce brand based in Amsterdam. Holding a Bachelor's degree, she transitioned into operations after a few years in a more junior marketing role, realizing her knack for systems and process optimization. Her current position at a six-person company allows her to directly implement her passion for efficiency and steadiness. She is the architect of their operational backbone, meticulously maintaining runbooks, campaign checklists, and meeting notes in Markdown files, all housed within shared cloud folders. This system is the central nervous system for her team, the external warehouse partner, and the two key contractors she manages. Maxime's approach is deeply practical; she believes in making decisions based on tangible benefits and long-term stability rather than fleeting trends. Her income of EUR 68k reflects her significant responsibility and expertise in a demanding field. She is driven by a desire for order and predictability, which she applies not only to her work but also to her personal life, evident in her organized home and structured routines. While not overtly extroverted, she values collaboration and clear communication, ensuring everyone is aligned. Her conscientiousness is her superpower, enabling her to keep multiple plates spinning without dropping any. She recently finalized a new onboarding checklist for contractors, ensuring a smoother integration process and reducing initial errors, a decision born from observing recurring minor issues over the past year. This focus on refining existing processes, rather than seeking radical new solutions, defines her current professional trajectory.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Maxime's typical weekday begins around 7:00 AM. After her morning routine, she's at her desk by 8:30 AM, immediately diving into the shared cloud drive to review the previous day's operational logs and update any critical runbooks. A 9:00 AM stand-up meeting with her team, conducted via video call, covers immediate priorities. The rest of her morning is a mix of responding to urgent emails, refining campaign checklists for upcoming product launches, and liaising with the external warehouse manager about inventory levels. Lunch is a quick, healthy meal at her desk. Afternoons are often dedicated to project management, reviewing contractor deliverables, and updating meeting notes in Markdown for future reference. She aims to wrap up by 6:00 PM, leaving her evenings free for personal pursuits.

Lifestyle

Maxime lives alone in a well-organized, minimalist apartment in Amsterdam's Oud-West district. Her routine is structured: early mornings often involve a brisk walk along the canals, followed by a simple, healthy breakfast. Weekends are for recharging, often spent baking elaborate cakes or planning her next travel adventure. She enjoys quiet evenings with a book or catching up with a small circle of close friends. Financial habits are prudent; she budgets carefully and prioritizes experiences over material possessions, saving consistently for travel and future security.

The pressure is constant to maintain efficiency and clear communication across these distributed workflows.

Relationships

Maxime maintains close ties with her parents and a younger sister, who live in a smaller town in the Netherlands. Questions & answers

Maxime Klein’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Moment (https://www.moment.dev/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The idea of running operations out of Markdown files is very appealing, as that's precisely how I manage our documentation now. The collaborative editing and programmable aspects are interesting, especially for building internal tools. However, the pricing isn't clear on the page. If it were around $10-$15 per user per month, I'd definitely consider it for my small team, particularly if it could replace some of our current disjointed tools. Beyond $20 per user per month, I'd start to question the value proposition. I would expect robust integrations and a very intuitive interface for that price.
