Lucas Corsten, 33, is the founder and driving force behind a boutique recruitment agency based in Rotterdam. Holding a Bachelor's degree in HR Management, he identified a gap in the market for specialized recruitment services that prioritized speed and transparency, leading him to establish his own firm five years ago. He operates with a strong sense of ambition, fueled by a desire to build a reputable and efficient business. His daily reality involves a constant balancing act: nurturing his team of five, securing new client contracts, and ensuring the smooth flow of candidate pipelines. Lucas is deeply invested in optimizing his agency's operations, particularly in how they manage inbound leads generated from their LinkedIn campaigns and Meta ads. Currently, these leads are funneled through HubSpot Starter, with Slack alerts notifying the team of new inquiries. This system, while functional, represents an area Lucas is keen to refine for greater efficiency. He believes strongly in the power of well-defined processes and is always on the lookout for tools that can automate repetitive tasks, freeing up his team to focus on high-value interactions. His income of €74k reflects the success of his venture but also the significant reinvestment required to sustain its growth. Lucas is pragmatic about his finances, viewing his earnings as a means to fuel further development rather than immediate personal luxury. He lives alone in a rented apartment, dedicating most of his time and energy to his company's trajectory. His recent decision to more rigorously track lead source performance in HubSpot stems from a desire to allocate marketing spend more effectively and understand which channels yield the most qualified opportunities, a testament to his data-driven approach. He sees time as his most valuable, yet finite, resource, constantly seeking ways to maximize its impact both professionally and personally.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Lucas's weekday typically begins around 7:00 AM with a quick check of urgent emails and Slack messages while making coffee. He's on his bike by 7:30 AM for a 45-minute ride, clearing his head before the workday. By 8:30 AM, he's at his desk, reviewing the previous day's lead reports from HubSpot and planning the day's priorities with his team via a brief stand-up meeting. The morning is usually filled with client calls, candidate interviews, and overseeing his team's progress. Lunch is often a quick affair at his desk while reviewing LinkedIn campaign performance. Afternoons involve more strategic work: refining job descriptions, analyzing market trends, and exploring potential automation tools. He aims to wrap up by 6:00 PM, but often stays later if a critical placement is in progress. Evenings might include a quick workout or catching up on industry news before dinner.

Lifestyle

Lucas lives a structured life in Rotterdam, prioritizing his career but also making time for personal pursuits. He's an avid cyclist, often using his road bike for both exercise and exploring the city, sometimes even for client meetings within Rotterdam if the weather permits. His evenings are often spent reviewing business performance or catching up on industry news. He enjoys watching football matches with friends occasionally and is mindful of his finances, aiming for steady growth rather than extravagant spending. He values his independence and the freedom his entrepreneurial path provides.

As the founder of a small but growing recruitment agency, Lucas is deeply involved in all aspects of the business. His days are a blend of client acquisition, candidate sourcing, team management, and strategic planning. He spends significant time refining their recruitment processes and exploring ways to leverage technology to improve efficiency. The pressure to consistently deliver high-quality placements for clients while nurturing his team of five is a constant undercurrent. He relies heavily on HubSpot for lead management and Slack for internal communication, but is always looking for ways to streamline these workflows.

Questions & answers

  1. Looking at LeadInbox (https://leadinbox.io/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

This LeadInbox tool seems interesting, particularly the promise of simplifying lead management without the bloat of traditional CRMs, which aligns with my own experience. The idea of seamless integration with Meta Ads and forms is very appealing. For it to be a no-brainer, I'd be looking at a price around $50-$75 per month, assuming it robustly handles our lead volume and team size, and offers those essential integrations smoothly. Anything above $150 per month would make me reconsider, especially since we are currently using HubSpot Starter, which has its own costs. I expect the auto-responder and lead-routing to be as efficient as advertised. My maximum acceptable price would be $75 per month.
