“The real magic isn't in the tools themselves, but in how cleverly you can stitch them together to solve a real problem for someone.”

Gaurang Ahluwalia, 28, is a self-made no-code consultant based in Bengaluru, India, who has carved out a niche serving small businesses. Armed with a Bachelor's degree and four years of dedicated experience, he leverages the power of no-code platforms to build websites and internal tools, empowering local enterprises to digitize and streamline their operations. His journey into freelancing began out of a desire for autonomy and a practical approach to problem-solving, allowing him to directly impact client success. Gaurang's income of INR 18L reflects his growing expertise and client base, though he remains grounded, living with his parents and prioritizing financial prudence. He meticulously manages his freelance business using a combination of free tools, extensive spreadsheets for tracking potential software, and a disciplined approach to client management. His market fit is defined by his proactive engagement with the tech landscape; he routinely follows new app launches, subscribing to numerous newsletters and actively exploring platforms like Product Hunt to identify innovative solutions he can recommend or integrate into his client projects. This continuous learning is not just a professional necessity but a core value, fueling his adaptability and ensuring he remains at the forefront of no-code possibilities. Recently, he made a conscious decision to invest more time in understanding AI integration within no-code tools, recognizing it as the next frontier for efficiency and automation. This involves dedicating specific hours each week to tutorials and experimentation, moving beyond basic website builds to more complex, intelligent solutions. He views his current solo status as a strength, allowing for agility and direct client relationships, but he's also aware of the administrative burdens and the need for scalable solutions as his business grows. His income is a source of pride, enabling him to contribute to his family and save, but he remains focused on long-term growth rather than immediate luxury, always seeking practical ways to enhance his service offerings and client value.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Gaurang's typical weekday begins around 8:00 AM with a quick check of emails and overnight client updates. After a simple breakfast, he dives into his first client task, often a website build or an internal tool refinement, usually from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch is a quick affair, followed by client calls or project planning until 4:00 PM. The late afternoon is dedicated to exploring new apps and tools, reading newsletters, or working on his own website and marketing materials. He dedicates an hour each evening, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to reviewing his product watchlist and noting down potential applications for his clients. Evenings are usually spent with family or catching up on personal learning.

Lifestyle

Gaurang lives in a comfortable, though not luxurious, apartment in Bengaluru with his parents, a common arrangement for young professionals in India. His income allows him to contribute significantly to household expenses and save a portion, but he's not yet at a stage where he'd consider independent living or major investments. His routine is disciplined, prioritizing work during weekdays and dedicating weekends to exploring new tools, client follow-ups, or occasional meetups with fellow freelancers. He enjoys trying out new local eateries and occasionally visits tech meetups, but his social life is largely centered around his professional network and close-knit family.

Work life

As a solo no-code consultant, Gaurang's workdays are a dynamic mix of client calls, project execution, and continuous research. He juggles building websites, automating workflows, and creating internal tools for small businesses across Bengaluru and surrounding areas. His primary challenge is managing multiple client demands simultaneously while staying abreast of the rapidly evolving no-code and AI landscape. He relies heavily on his laptop, a stable internet connection, and a curated set of free or freemium tools, meticulously organized in spreadsheets. Coworkers are non-existent in the traditional sense; his 'team' consists of his clients and a loose network of online collaborators he occasionally taps for advice.

Relationships

Gaurang maintains a close relationship with his parents, who provide a stable home base and emotional support. His professional network, primarily built through LinkedIn and local tech meetups, is crucial for leads and advice. He has a few close friends from university who are also in tech, with whom he discusses industry trends and freelance challenges.

How they decide

Gaurang is a research-heavy decision-maker, especially when it comes to tools or significant process changes. He meticulously compares features, reads reviews, and often tests free trials. He values practicality and ROI, preferring solutions that offer clear benefits and integrate well with his existing workflow. While he respects peer recommendations, he ultimately trusts his own analysis and testing.

How they sound

Speaks with a clear, articulate cadence, often using precise technical terms but can simplify them for clients. His English is fluent with a subtle Indian accent. Questions & answers

Gaurang Ahluwalia’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Launch (https://launch.diy): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

Launch.DIY seems to be a platform for discovering new apps, which is something I actively do anyway through newsletters and Product Hunt. The "Advertise" spots are $19 for 30 days, which is quite inexpensive if I wanted to promote one of my client's projects or perhaps a tool I've built. For myself as a user, I'm not sure I'd pay for access to just discover apps as I already have many free methods. If it offered curated lists of AI-integrated no-code tools or some exclusive early access, I might consider a nominal fee, perhaps around $5 per month. Anything more than $10 a month would be too much for just app discovery.
