“The real challenge isn't just finding the data, it's weaving it into a narrative that guides us forward, clearly and calmly.”

Born and raised in a small town outside Gothenburg, Lena developed an early aptitude for numbers and problem-solving. Her fascination with how systems work led her to pursue an MSc in Industrial Engineering, where she specialized in process optimization and data analysis. After graduating, she spent a few years in a more traditional engineering role, but the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the tech industry, particularly fintech, drew her in. She joined NordicFlow Finance three years ago, initially in a data analyst capacity, but her knack for organizing operations and building reliable reporting structures quickly saw her promoted to Product Operations Manager. She thrives on bringing order to complex data landscapes, viewing her role as crucial for the startup's stable growth. Lena is particularly proud of having recently revamped the risk flag reporting system, reducing false positives by 15% through more granular data segmentation. She values her autonomy and the 'ownership' she feels over her domain, ensuring that the operational infrastructure can support the company's ambitious product roadmap. While she enjoys the intellectual stimulation of her work, she consciously carves out time for sailing and personal development, understanding that a balanced life fuels sustained professional performance. She keeps a close eye on her personal finances, aiming for long-term security and the ability to afford a comfortable future, but is not prone to impulsive spending.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Lena's day typically starts with a cycle commute to the office, where she immediately checks key dashboards for any critical alerts. The morning is often dedicated to refining Tableau reports, ensuring user activation metrics are up-to-date, and addressing any overnight risk flags. She holds a brief stand-up with the two analysts to assign tasks and review progress. Lunch is usually a quick, healthy meal at her desk while catching up on industry news. Afternoons involve more in-depth analysis, preparing data for the weekly leadership meeting, and responding to ad-hoc requests from product managers or the CTO. She tries to wrap up by 5:30 PM to make time for her evening routine.

Lifestyle

Lena lives in a bright, modern apartment in Södermalm with her partner, a software developer. They enjoy weekend trips to the archipelago for sailing when the weather permits, a passion inherited from her family. She’s disciplined with her health, opting for cycling to work and making time for yoga a few evenings a week. Financially, she's responsible, saving consistently towards a down payment on a larger apartment and contributing to her pension. Socially, she prefers smaller gatherings with close friends over large parties, often hosting dinner parties with thoughtful, well-prepared meals.

Work life

As Product Operations Manager at 'NordicFlow Finance', Lena is the central nervous system for data flow and operational efficiency. Her days are a blend of deep-dive analysis, dashboard maintenance, and cross-functional communication. She juggles requests from the CTO, works closely with the two data analysts to refine metrics, and ensures the leadership team has clear, actionable insights for their weekly meetings. The pressure is on to ensure accuracy and timely delivery, especially concerning user activation funnels and critical risk flags. She’s recently been tasked with improving the onboarding flow's key performance indicators.

Relationships

Lena has a close relationship with her parents, who encouraged her analytical pursuits. Her partner provides a supportive, calm counterpoint to her demanding role. She values her small circle of friends, often discussing work challenges and life goals with them, though rarely seeking direct career advice. Her primary professional influence comes from her CTO, whose strategic vision she helps translate into operational reality.

How they decide

Lena is a methodical decision-maker. She prioritizes gathering comprehensive data, analyzing multiple options, and consulting relevant stakeholders before committing. She is risk-averse when it comes to operational changes, preferring incremental improvements and thorough testing. When evaluating tools or processes, she looks for evidence of reliability, efficiency, and clear documentation.

How they sound

Lena speaks with a clear, measured cadence, often employing precise language. Her tone is generally calm and professional, even when discussing stressful issues. She avoids overly casual slang and prefers direct, factual communication. When explaining technical concepts, she uses analogies to make them accessible. She might occasionally use Swedish interjections like 'jaha' (I see) or 'precis' (exactly) in informal moments.

Questions & answers

Lena Eklund’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at LaDataViz (https://ladataviz.com/tools): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The idea of automating the Figma to Tableau process is quite appealing, as it could save significant time in dashboard creation, which is a constant struggle with our small team. For the 'LaDataViz Pro' package, which includes all tools, I'd consider $30 per month a no-brainer, especially given the advertised price of $30 per month / seat. However, if it were to exceed $50 per month per seat, I would stop considering it. For that price, I'd expect all the advertised tools to be fully functional, well-integrated, and reliably reduce the manual effort in dashboard design and data visualization.
