“My biggest win is seeing a local business thrive because of the digital push we give them; it's about tangible growth, not just vanity metrics.”

Budhil Suthar grew up in a middle-class household in Delhi, where his parents instilled in him a strong work ethic. After completing his Bachelor's in Commerce, he recognized the burgeoning digital landscape and its potential for small businesses. He started his career with a brief stint at a small digital agency but found the corporate structure stifling and the work less impactful for the clients he wanted to serve. Venturing into freelancing four years ago, he focused on hyper-local service businesses – gyms, dentists, restaurants – in the sprawling Delhi NCR region. He built his reputation by offering highly responsive, end-to-end digital marketing services, handling everything from ad creative design and copywriting to campaign management and performance tracking. His strength lies in understanding the unique needs of these businesses and translating them into effective online campaigns, often leveraging simple yet powerful tools like Canva and Meta Ads. Budhil operates on a model of speed and efficiency, understanding that quick turnarounds and visible results are paramount for his clients. He lives with his parents and sister, contributing significantly to household expenses while diligently saving for his own future home. He views his work not just as a service, but as a partnership, investing time in understanding each client's business to ensure their online presence directly translates into real-world success and sustained cash flow. He recently decided to pilot a new WhatsApp-based approval workflow for all graphic design assets, aiming to shave off at least a day from his typical turnaround time for creatives.

Background & daily life

A day in their life

Budhil's day begins with checking overnight ad performance across his key accounts on his phone. After breakfast, he focuses on creating ad copy and simple graphics for a new campaign for a gym client using Canva, then sends drafts via WhatsApp for approval. Mid-morning involves a call with a dentist’s office to discuss their Q3 lead generation strategy. Lunch is usually a quick affair at his desk. The afternoon is spent resizing banner ads for a restaurant’s promotional offer, troubleshooting a Facebook ad rejection, and responding to client messages. He concludes his workday by reviewing daily metrics and planning the next day’s tasks, ensuring all urgent client requests are addressed before signing off around 8 PM.

Lifestyle

Budhil's life is a carefully orchestrated juggle between client demands and personal responsibilities. He’s up by 7 AM, often grabbing a quick paratha from the local vendor before diving into work. Evenings are generally spent at home, sharing dinner with his family and helping his sister with her studies. Weekends are a mix of catching up on sleep, attending industry webinars, and occasionally meeting friends for coffee or a movie. He’s conscious about saving for a down payment on a small apartment but also enjoys occasional splurges on new gadgets that can improve his workflow.

Work life

His freelance role is a constant flux of urgent requests and proactive campaign management. Budhil juggles 8-10 clients, primarily local businesses in Delhi NCR – think a popular South Delhi cafe, a chain of dental clinics, and a couple of fitness studios. His primary tools are Facebook Ads Manager, Canva for quick graphics, and a suite of WhatsApp Business features for client communication. The pressure is on to deliver tangible results – leads, footfall, bookings – often with tight turnaround times for ad creatives and copy. He lives by his phone, constantly monitoring performance metrics and responding to client queries.

Relationships

Budhil maintains a close relationship with his parents, who appreciate his dedication and financial contribution. His younger sister is his confidante for non-work related matters. His social circle is relatively small, mostly consisting of former college mates and a few fellow freelancers he’s met online. He relies on peer advice within digital marketing forums for technical challenges.

How they decide

He leans towards solutions that offer a clear return on investment and streamline his existing processes. Budhil researches options thoroughly, often looking for case studies or testimonials from similar businesses. He values efficiency and ease of integration, preferring tools that don't require extensive setup or a steep learning curve. Peer recommendations and free trials are crucial before committing.

How they sound

Speaks with a moderate pace, clear enunciation, and a mix of professional Hindi and English (Hinglish). Uses common business jargon but avoids overly technical terms with clients unless necessary. Can sound slightly hurried when dealing with urgent requests. Tends to be polite and reassuring, often saying 'Ho jayega, chinta mat kijiye' (It will get done, don't worry) or 'Aap bas approval de dijiye' (Just give your approval).

Questions & answers

  1. Looking at BrandGen (https://www.getbrandgen.com/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

This BrandGen tool looks interesting for creating quick, on-brand visuals. If it could consistently generate good ad creatives and product photos for my clients – especially for restaurants and gyms – that would save me a lot of time. A price point of around $30-40 per month would be a no-brainer for me. Anything above $70 would make me stop and reconsider, as I'd need to see very significant time savings or lead generation improvements to justify it. For that price, I'd expect to be able to generate at least 50-70 high-quality images per month that are ready to use across different platforms. The maximum I would pay is $50 per month.
