Vedang Gowda, 31, is a co-founder of a nascent SaaS company based in Bengaluru, India. Holding a B.Tech degree, he embarked on his entrepreneurial journey four years ago, driven by a desire for independence and a passion for building digital products. He shares his living space with his parents and younger sister, a decision rooted in frugality that allows him to channel most of his ₹22L annual income back into the business. His company, a lean operation with just two full-time members, focuses on providing a niche SaaS solution. Vedang's role is multifaceted; he is deeply involved in product strategy and development, but also shoulders the critical responsibility of organic growth through SEO. He approaches SEO with a hands-on, DIY mentality, meticulously tracking performance in Google Search Console and leveraging free keyword research tools. His weekends are often dedicated to crafting or refining blog content, a testament to his commitment to 'shipping weekly' and continuous improvement. Background & daily life

A day in their life

Vedang's weekday typically begins around 7:30 AM. After a quick breakfast and checking urgent emails, he dives into product development, often tackling bug fixes or implementing small features. Mid-morning involves a sync with his co-founder to discuss progress and upcoming tasks. Lunch is usually a simple home-cooked meal. The afternoon might be spent on customer support, refining product documentation, or exploring new feature ideas based on user feedback. He dedicates about an hour each day, often in the late afternoon, to reviewing Search Console data or drafting outlines for blog posts. Evenings are for family time, dinner, and perhaps an hour of learning – reading articles or watching a tutorial – before winding down around 11 PM.

Lifestyle

Vedang lives a relatively modest lifestyle in Bengaluru, sharing a home with his parents and younger sister, which helps him save significantly on living expenses. His income is primarily reinvested into his startup, with personal spending focused on essentials and occasional tech gadgets. Weekends are a mix of focused work on his SaaS product and SEO, catching up with a few close friends over chai, and family time. He prioritizes his health by trying to walk or cycle short distances when possible and enjoys cooking simple, healthy meals. His frugality extends to his personal life, preferring experiences over material possessions.

Work life

As a co-founder of a two-person SaaS company, Vedang's days are a whirlwind of product development, customer support, and, crucially, marketing. He personally handles the SEO for their product, a task he approaches with a mix of free tools and diligent manual effort. This involves regularly checking Google Search Console, identifying low-hanging fruit keywords, and dedicating weekend hours to writing or editing blog posts. He collaborates closely with his technical co-founder, often debating feature prioritization and user experience. The pressure to grow organic traffic without a significant marketing budget is constant, driving his hands-on approach to content.

Relationships

Vedang maintains close ties with his family, who are supportive of his entrepreneurial venture, though they don't fully grasp the technical nuances. His primary professional relationship is with his co-founder, a dynamic built on mutual respect and shared vision. Socially, he has a small circle of friends, mostly from his university days or fellow indie hackers he's connected with online, who understand the startup grind.

How they decide

Vedang is a research-heavy decision-maker, especially when it comes to tools or strategies that impact his business. He meticulously compares options, reads reviews, and often tests free versions before committing. He values data and evidence, preferring to understand the 'why' behind a recommendation. While he's open to advice from trusted peers, the final decision is always based on his own analysis and alignment with his company's frugal ethos.

How they sound

Speaks with a clear, measured cadence, often using precise technical terms when discussing his product or marketing efforts. He's generally polite and professional, but can become more animated when discussing his passion for indie hacking or a particularly interesting technical challenge. He tends to avoid overly casual slang, preferring straightforward language, and is careful not to make definitive claims without qualification. His tone is earnest and focused.

Questions & answers

Vedang Gowda’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Bold Pilot (https://boldpilot.club): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The $49/month plan looks interesting, especially the promise of 30 articles published monthly and targeting keywords we can actually rank for. That would save me significant weekend time. However, I'd need to see a few case studies relevant to SaaS or similar B2B products to truly consider it a no-brainer. If it consistently delivered high-quality content and improved rankings without requiring much manual intervention, I could see myself paying up to $30/month. Anything above $50 would be too much given our lean budget.
