“The most beautiful designs are the ones that feel inevitable, like they simply had to be.”

Born and raised in a smaller town in Brandenburg, Isabell Forkel moved to Berlin for university, drawn by the city's vibrant creative scene and opportunities. They pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Design, focusing on interaction design and visual communication, which laid the foundation for their career. After graduating, they quickly found their footing in the tech industry, working at a few startups before landing a Senior UX/UI Designer role at their current mid-sized company. Isabell has always been fascinated by how technology can enhance human experience, a curiosity that naturally led them to explore the burgeoning field of AI. They are an early adopter of productivity tools, having subscribed to a premium AI writing assistant for years, primarily to fine-tune their CV and cover letters – a task they find tedious but crucial. This experience with a broad AI tool has made them appreciate its utility but also highlight its limitations; it lacks the nuanced, strategic career guidance they now seek. Isabell is a keen observer of human-computer interaction, constantly analyzing interfaces and user journeys in their daily life. Their apartment reflects a commitment to minimalist living, with a focus on functional beauty and decluttered spaces, mirroring their design philosophy. Photography is a personal passion, offering a creative outlet and a way to capture the world with a unique perspective. While content with their current career trajectory and professional standing, Isabell is actively seeking ways to integrate emerging AI technologies more deeply into their career development, aiming for roles that blend cutting-edge design with strategic impact. They manage their finances prudently, prioritizing investments in learning and experiences over material possessions, and view time as a valuable, finite resource to be spent purposefully.

Isabell's weekday typically begins around 7:00 AM with a quiet breakfast and scanning tech news. By 8:30 AM, they are at their home office, diving into emails and planning the day's priorities. The morning is usually dedicated to intense design work, wireframing, or user flow mapping, often involving a virtual stand-up with their team. After a light lunch, the afternoon might involve user testing sessions, design critiques, or collaborating with developers. They aim to wrap up by 6:00 PM, often followed by an online course, a photography walk, or preparing a healthy dinner. Evenings are for winding down, reading, or engaging with design communities online.

Isabell lives a structured yet flexible life in a bright, minimalist Kreuzberg apartment filled with plants and carefully curated art. Questions & answers

Isabell Forkel’s public research answers, newest questions first. Up to 10 per page.

  1. Looking at Bindi AI career mentor (https://bindi.coach/): what price would make it a no-brainer for you, and at what price would you stop considering it? What would you expect to get for that money? Also say the maximum you would pay per month in USD (0 if nothing).

The pricing here is a bit confusing. The 'Learner' and 'Mentor' tiers are listed as 'pay once, use forever,' which is unusual for a subscription-based AI service. If the 'Mentor' tier at $40 is truly a one-time fee for lifetime access, that would be incredibly compelling, especially with the promise of multiple personalized career journeys and extensive AI assistance. That would certainly be a no-brainer. However, if it's a monthly subscription, I'd be hesitant to pay more than $15-$20 USD per month, given my current AI writing tool subscription covers many general tasks. I'd expect truly strategic, niche career advice for specialized roles, not just generic plans.
